Event Details
Join us for an exciting introduction to 3D printing with a special focus on 3D design. In this hands-on program, you'll learn how 3D printing works, explore essential design tools, and discover how to bring your ideas to life.
We’ll also cover how to use Cura software to prepare your designs and generate STL and G-code files for printing. By the end of the final session, you’ll have the opportunity to take home your very own 3D-printed creation—or, for larger projects, submit your design to unBound for professional printing.
The series is designed for patrons to attend all sessions but can be successful with missing the 1st one.
Patron laptops available on first come, first serve basis.
Timeline:
July 15 – Getting Started with 3D Printing
Dive into the fundamentals of 3D printing, including how the printers work, basic operations, and maintenance tips. We’ll also take a quick look at Tinkercad to get you started with simple 3D design.
July 22 – Design Your Own Project
Begin creating your custom project! Patrons are welcome to bring their own ideas or choose to design a personalized name plaque. Add your own creative touches—whether it’s a keychain hole, raised lettering, or inverted text.
July 29 – Finishing Touches & Printing Prep
Wrap up your design and get it ready for printing! We’ll walk through how to use Cura to prepare your file and generate a G-code. Smaller projects will be printed on-site using our reserved printers. For larger or future designs, we’ll show you how to submit your print through the unBound online form.
