Anticipated opening: Winter 2026/2027
The Cherry Lane branch is scheduled to undergo a renovation of both the 27,600-square-foot main library and 1,840-square-foot annex building, along with a parking lot redesign. The project is the last in a series supported by a plant facility levy passed by voters in 2019. Timelines reflect current estimates and will be adjusted as the project develops.
The Cherry Lane branch was built in 1996 and opened in 1997, and many of the building systems are from the original construction. The renovation will allow Meridian Library District to address current challenges of the design: failures in the HVAC, electrical, and fire sprinklers systems, a poor parking lot entry and exit, and an annex that is unsustainable long term.
Features in the renovated Cherry Lane branch will include:
- Additional parking
- Updated entry plaza
- New patio and future patio extension
- A 24-hour access point for requested library materials. When patrons place items on hold through the library catalog, they will be able to pick them up at their convenience.
- Reservable spaces, including meeting rooms and study rooms
- Designated children's area, teen and tween area, and adult area
- Large program room
- Large classroom
