The Pinnacle of 100 Years: Meridian Library District Announces Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for Newest Branch During Centennial Anniversary Year

On September 30, 2024, Meridian Library District (MLD) will open its newest branch: Meridian Library at Pinnacle. The grand opening will kick off with a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. at the new branch, located at 1375 E. Phenomenal Street near the corner of Locust Grove and Lake Hazel Roads.

Meridian Library at Pinnacle will open during MLD’s centennial year; the first library in Meridian opened on September 10, 1924. The Pinnacle branch will replace Meridian Library District’s Silverstone branch, which closed August 31, 2024.

“Meridian Library District is proud to be opening our new branch in South Meridian. While closing our beloved Silverstone branch is bittersweet, we are excited for everyone to visit the new Pinnacle branch as a highlight in the celebration of our centennial year," stated Library Director Nick Grove. "After 100 years of library service in Meridian, we want to thank our community for their unwavering support and look forward to serving Meridian for the next 100 years.”

The 11,000 square foot location is part of the $14 million levy passed in 2019. Meridian Library at Pinnacle’s features will include:

  • A 24-hour access point for requested library materials placed on hold
  • Reservable spaces, including a community room and two study rooms
  • A Children’s Area with an outdoor seating option
  • A designated Teen Space with a gaming area
  • An Adult Lounge Area with a fireplace

Meridian Library at Pinnacle was designed by LKV Architects and built by CM Company, Inc. Brighton Corporation & SCS Development donated the land and served as a development partner.

The Meridian Library District has five locations and serves Meridian, one of the fastest-growing cities in Idaho. A capital project still in planning stages is a major renovation of the Cherry Lane branch, which is over 20 years old. The first capital project, renovation of a building in downtown Meridian for the unBound business and tech library, was completed in 2021.
