On May 1st, Megan Larsen, Meridian Library District (MLD) Board of Trustee Chair, received the 2023 Library Journal Movers & Shakers award, recognizing individuals around the world who are helping to shape the future of libraries. Megan received this significant award based on her passionate defense of everyone’s right to read.
Upon learning of this recognition, Megan stated, “I am incredibly proud to be able to advocate for the right to read. It is a privilege to speak out about the issues facing libraries and the implications of restricting or banning books.”
Nick Grove, MLD Director, said, “Meridian Library is fortunate to have a board chair serve the library district and the community of Meridian with such passion. Megan has continuously gone above and beyond, she is outstanding and incredibly deserving of this honor.”
The Library Journal Movers & Shakers awards began in 2002 to recognize library staff who are emerging leaders in the library world. Movers & Shakers profiles 50 or more up-and-coming, innovative, creative individuals from around the world–both great leaders and behind-the-scenes contributors–who are providing inspiration and model programs for others. Award-winning Movers & Shakers are librarians and non-degreed library workers including publishers, vendors, coders, entrepreneurs, reviewers, and others who impact the library field.
