Program Description

Event Details

Jim Gill is a musician and author known for celebrating active play. In concert, Jim strums energizing rhythms on his banjo while everyone sings, claps, dances and spins along to his silly and inspiring musical games. Each concert is more than a show to watch – it is an opportunity for family play!

This FREE concert is part of Jim’s ongoing celebration of the release of his newest collection of recordings. Jim promises, in concert, to share a non-stop selection of sing-alongs, dance-alongs, finger plays and tongue twisters. The concert will feature Jim’s ‘Silly Dance Contest,” his jazzy “One From the Left” finger play and many more opportunities for children, parents and grandparents to sing and play together!

See Jim Gill in action!

Who is Jim Gill?

Jim is a child development specialist, completing his graduate studies in child development at the Erikson Institute of Chicago with a special emphasis on the study of play. For this reason, each of Jim's recordings and books is created as an opportunity for playful interactions between a child and a caring adult. Anyone who has experienced one of Jim's family concerts knows that rather than performing for the children and parents, Jim leads them to sing and play together.

Due to concert being in the school gymnasium, we highly recommend families bringing a blanket to sit on. Limited chairs will be available.
