Have you ever wanted to write a novel but never taken the time to sit down and start?  Well November is National Novel Writing Month.  The goal is to write 50,000 words by the end of the month.  Editing can be done later, the idea is that you spend the entire month, along with thousands of others around the world, writing your own novel.
This month at the Meridian Library we will be replacing our weekly Teen Video Making on Thursdays (3-4pm) with a Young Writers Program for kids grades 6-12.  The Young Writers Program is a youth version of NaNoWriMo that encourages kids/teens to write a 30,000 word novel in November.  Our program will include laptops for typing, notepads for thoughts, and snacks for encouragement.  The library will also award prizes to two winners grades 6-12; one for a novel of 10,000 words and one for a novel of 20,000 words.
ps- The websites for NaNoWrimo have several great tools to help you get started, stay focused and keep your novel on track.
