Cherry Lane

Name Our Sorter

New SorterVote now!

Starting tomorrow we will begin working on installing our new automatic sorter. It's this giant machine that will take the Meridian Library books, DVDs, and CDs you return, check them in automatically, and place them into different bins! It's like we're living in the future.

We have almost every aspect covered except for what to call the thing, since albeit descriptive, "The Sorter" lacks a certain flair (and we at the library are all about flair). So we are asking your help in deciding on a name. Our staff have come up with a few suggestions, but if you don't like any of them, we would love to hear your ideas

Teen Gaming Night

EveryoneOn!

Did you know that 62 million people do not use the internet, but that 80% of jobs are now posted online instead of newspapers? The EveryoneOn Campaign hopes to get everyone access to the internet.

Yesterday saw the start of Connect2Compete's EveryoneOn Campaign, a nation-wide public service campaign to promote the importance of digital literacy skills. From the website, you can find classes in your area, get tips on applying for jobs online, and find wifi access! Join the Meridian Library as we seek to get Everyone Online. Don't forget--we have free wifi at all three locations as well as computer access at the Meridian Library @ Cherry Lane and the Meridian Library @ Silverstone!

Diabetes Academy - March 9th @ 10:30 am

Diabetes has become an epidemic with more being diagnosed with the disease than ever before.  It is reported that 1 in 3 children are overweight in Idaho.  Jennifer Waldman, RD, will offer ways to stay healthy while managing diabetes.  All ages are welcome!

Teen Tech Week signups

Teen Tech Week is fast approaching and we have lots of fun things in store for Meridian Library District.  Students in grades 6-12 can signup starting today for a special TTW event March 11-13 held at our Cherry Lane location.  This will be a 3 day event that will build from one day to the next so it's important to attend each day.  Spots are limited so be sure to signup with Nick in the Teen Department or at the Children's Information Desk.  Contact Nick for additional information.

Some Tax Forms Available

The Meridian Library will again this year provide printed tax forms for our patrons. As of now, the only federal tax form available in print for tax year 2012 is the 1040EZ. We do not know when the print versions of the 1040 or the 1040A forms will be released. The federal forms are available in .pdf format from the website of the Internal Revenue Service (10401040A--these links provide the forms only; search www.irs.gov for instructions and schedules). We do have the printed state of Idaho forms.
